Many asset recovery companies do not know that they can get paid for the printers they recover at a job site. Often, these machines just get scrapped – a practice that isn’t good for your bottom line and one that’s definitely not good for the environment.

That’s where Midwest Laser Specialists, Inc. comes in. We’ve been working with electronic scrap asset recovery agencies for more than 35 years and have built strong relationships with companies across the U.S. and in Canada.

Our goal is simple – to buy recovered printers at a fair price. How does this benefit you? We take away the burden of processing and grading equipment so all you have to do is load, ship and get paid. Bonus – the printer you recover don’t end up in a landfill. They get resold to households and offices as functioning machines again.

How does it work?

Every vendor is unique in the way we purchase their printers, but the process always starts with a discussion. Once we speak with you to review what you’ve recovered, we will assess the value at no cost to you. The assessment if straightforward (you don’t need to be a printer expert to get us the information we need). We’ll ask about the make and model of the machines and approximately how many you’ll be sending. We’ll then give you an estimate of how much we think the machines are worth. The is a free quote and comes with no obligation. If you want to move forward, we’ll do a Sort & Settle.

Save time with a Sort & Settle

We know that you have hundreds, if not thousands, of pieces of equipment to process. That’s where we can save you time on the front-end with a Sort & Settle. Here’s how it works:

  1. After an over-the-phone assessment of your printers, we’ll negotiate a price-per-machine. As the Midwest’s largest refurbished printer reseller, we offer the most competitive pricing on the market.
  2. Once the terms are agreed upon, we’ll arrange the freight to have your machines shipped to our warehouse in Alsip, Il.
  3. We will sort through each piece to determine what can be salvaged and what needs to be disposed of.
  4. We’ll send you a complete report of our findings. Typically, this takes less than 2 weeks.
  5. Based on this report, we’ll pay you for the good equipment and get rid of the rest. Rest assured that our payments are hassle-free and fast – we’d be happy to provide referrals.

This is a win-win situation. You save time upfront by not having to process and grade equipment (something that can take days to weeks), while also getting a competitive price on your machines. MLS gets to do what we do best – refurbish broken printers.

Important – we only purchase laser printers

We do not accept inkjet printers – only laser. Also, we only accept printers that appear to be in “good’ to “fair” condition. If you know that the printers you are recovering are severely damaged or do not work, please do not contact us. We are in the business of refurbishing and reselling good machines. Our reputation depends on it.

How many printers can you take?

We prefer a full truck (26 pallets) but we’ll take as little as 3 pallets. We have the warehouse space to accept multiple truck shipments as well.

What countries can we ship from?

We only arrange freight from asset recovery agencies in the U.S., but we do work with vendors in Canada that arrange their own shipping.
